Do people accuse you of being a Dreamer? Someone who is always looking at what is possible rather than what can't be done, someone who hopes for a brighter future? I know that I certainly heard that a lot when I was younger. Somehow, being a dreamer has been labeled a "bad thing" in our society. That we have to stay in the "real world", by which they mean, you have to look at what can't work, what doesn't work, what will never work.
This is complete and total Bunk! The "real world" works through the laws of attraction, the most powerful law in the universe. What you think about is what you get. As Henry Ford said, "Whether you think you can or think you can't, you are right". In other words, what you can conceive, you can achieve. To find the truth in this look at the plethora of books on this subject. Wayne Dwyer, Deepak Chopra, Ester and Jerry Hicks, Joe Vitale, Stacey Hall and Jan Brogniez, and Marcus Buckingham; the list could go on and on of all the authors that have researched and documented this truth.
What do you Think? Do you worry about your health, your children, your marriage? Are you creating negative future scenarios of how things could go wrong? Are you looking at your past from the perspective of everything that didn't go right? Or are you grounding yourself in what is going right, right now, expressing gratitude and forgiveness from your heart, and affirming an abundant and vibrant future? Do you have a clear idea of what you are up to in the world, completely in love with that vision, and taking steps which support it? Either way you are dreaming up your own reality.
You have a choice – you can make your own reality. Your Life Dream is a powerful mechanism which can change your life –- forever. You can have a life full of disappointments, sorrows, and grief. Or you can have a life full of endless possibilities, meaningful accomplishments, and radiant joy. It is completely your choice. By harnessing your thoughts and retraining them into life-affirming thoughts that grab you heart you can have a completely different experience of your life. It is simple, but not necessarily easy. To change the thought patterns of a lifetime takes effort. It is well worth doing it.
Check in with yourself right now. As you read these words, what are you thinking? Are you energized, excited, hopeful? Or are you in judgment, and critical? Or all of the above! This is a good indication of how your mind works when it's on "auto pilot". Whatever you think, it shapes your experience of reality. Judgment, criticism, and finding fault creates negative energy, which attracts more of the same. The more you think these negative thoughts the more entrenched they become. The more they become what's "real" to you – the thoughts mutate into undisputed "facts" of how life is. It doesn't have to be that way.
How clear are you about your vision for your life, your Life Dream? Having a Life Dream can completely energize your life. Having a meaningful and fulfilling goal for what you want to be, have, and do is a powerful motivator and will increase your joy. The greatest gift you can give to the world around you is your joy. A joyful existence radiates out and infects the people around you. It changes their lives. It changes your life. Some people use a "treasure map" to clarify their dream and increase their joy. What gives you joy? How much joy do you allow yourself? Is your dream for what you can be, what you can have, and what you can do, the highest expression of the divine goodness within you?
How well do you focus on your Life Dream, keeping it alive? Some find it useful to develop a daily practice of conscious and intentional focusing. Affirmations, focused meditations, prayers, mantras, and looking at your treasure map are all practices that increase focus. Creating an empowering plan and checking progress against it can also be useful. And remember to hold yourself gently; forgive yourself when you get off track, and do what's needed to get back on track.
How skilled are you at giving your Life Dream positive energy and managing the doubts? Thoughts that don't serve us cannot be eliminated, but they can be managed. Thoughts that serve us can be encouraged and allowed to grow inside us. The more you re-apply your thoughts along constructive pathways, the more constructive pathways you create. It becomes easier and easier to maintain this thought pattern. At some point this becomes your new "auto pilot" mode of thinking. This doesn't mean that you ignore obstacles; this does mean that you recast them, looking for the gift they bring you.
How often do you celebrate what's wonderful about your life? Each small step that brings us closer to our goal wants to be recognized and celebrated. Just as a mother encourages a toddler's first steps, knowing that with each step they are closer to being able to walk on their own two feet in the world as adults, your spirit wants to be celebrated. The more you celebrate the small steps towards your Life Dream, the more joy you will have in your life right now.
